From 11.59pm tonight, Auckland boundary restrictions are easing. Anyone will be able to travel across the boundary for any reason, but if you are leaving Auckland and you’re 12 years 3 months or older, then you must have one of these two things:
➡️ A valid My Vaccine Pass; or 疫苗通行證
➡️ A negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of your travel across the boundary. 病毒檢測陰性
You need these no matter how long you have been inside the Auckland boundary.

Tests for asymptomatic travellers out of Auckland who are not vaccinated can be:

Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms, regardless of vaccination status, must stay home and get a PCR test, and call 0800 358 5453 for advice.

Travelling north, Police will set up and manage checkpoints with the support of iwi to confirm travellers meet these requirements. These will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Travelling south, motorists can expect spot-checks from Police to ensure travellers meet these requirements.  

At the airport, people will need to show that they meet these requirements at check-in. 

Port Waikato is included in the boundary with Auckland, and travellers across the boundary must follow the same rules.

These newly eased restrictions will remain in place until 17 January 2022, after which there will be no restrictions on travel out of Auckland.
